Edgar and the steak he "had once"

How? He was born on the train, and just about a month after his birth they started distributing those protein blocks. So when, exactly, did he get to have steak?

reply

Exactly what I was thinking! But maybe he wasn't an actually baby. They did also call the little black boy a baby at one stage too.

reply

Or maybe it was human steak!

reply

I think it was implied that he ate his mother

reply

Oh god what?! How is that implied? I believe all we know about the mother is that they killed her, maybe ate her but I didn't get any implications that they also would have fed the baby with.
Plus baby don't eat meat, they drink milk?
That could have been a "cool" concept though

A couple of scenarios come to mind. One is that the front will occasionally share some of their goods with the back. Kind of like one day a year they will pitch in and send some sort of feel good package that is mostly symbolic. They feel like they have done something to help those in the back.

Another is that he convinced himself he had steak once. People do things like that sometimes. Especially in brutal situations. I guess it is some sort of survival mechanism in us to keep us from giving up hope.

reply

Agreed on both posibilities.

Third one: He's the sarcastic character, so maybe he just was sarcastic.
