Lonesome Road Ending

So I was able to get Ulysses to back down without having to kill him, which is good. But now I'm faced with the dilemma of what to do with the nukes.

I want to disarm them of course, but that makes ED-E has to die to do it. And I dont want that! Hes such a cute little robot! :(

I dont want to nuke the NCR, even though they now hate me for siding with Mr House. But I wouldn't mind nuking the legion as much, considering I've been at war from them from the start. But nuking them would almost certainly kill a lot of innocent people too...

I just dunno what to do! :(

I didn't like the choice... but I let ED die. He's not "the" ED-E, but it still hurt. And some people had trouble killing the companion cube... ow.

Another thing I couldn't bring myself to do, I couldn't side with Mr. House knowing he would demand I take out the Brotherhood. I knew I could probably get Veronica out of it, but I couldn't bring myself to kill her family. I also did not side with the NCR or the Legion. I took New Vegas for myself. I know I did it for the right reasons, but I can't help but realize...

What I did, WAS BENNY'S PLAN. BENNY, the loan-sharking, bastard that shot me in the head. It was quite the quandry.

I know what you mean. I didn't like it when Mr House made me blow up the Brotherhood bunker. I had already been accepted as a member as convinced Veronica to go her own way. I thought there would be a way to get the Brotherhood and Mr House to get along, but he wasn't having any of it. *sigh*

I ended up dropping the nukes on the Legion. I just couldn't bring myself to destroy that loyal little robot. It would have been goood if collecting all his upgrades would have enabled him to disable the bombs without exploding in the process.

Just like several of the choices in NV (or any good game) the hardest ones to make tend to end up being the most memorable and meaningful. I mean in some way there's something ethically wrong with Mario sacrificing Yoshi to a death drop just for the sake of getting a double jump. But in Super Mario World, getting Yoshi back is as easy as finding the next egg in a question brick. It doesn't carry the same weight as a Fallout companion, or even scripted deaths like Telltale's The Walking Dead. Another good example is the Fire Emblem series. In Fire Emblem, death is permanent. For main characters it's a game over. But for it's many, many, other playable characters it's just a goodbye forever. Leveling up characters in Fire Emblem is a tedious and frustrating process that is very time consuming. You'd be surprised how many people just quit without saving anytime any character bites it. Playing a FE game thru without re-playing levels is the hardest challenge of all.

So, was my sacrifice of ED better than your nuking of the Legion? Or did your nuke just take out Legion guys and I consigned a loyal companion to death for nothing? It's not a question that NV answers. But it makes for a more meaningful experience when we can ask that question. GOOD GAME!

I nuked both. Ironically I still got to finish all of the ncrs quests and then I turned on them at the very last minute with no mother fooking mercy. All died.

Well, I couldn't nuke both. That playthrough I was super good guy and couldn't properly role play a justification for using a nuke.

However, I also turned on the NCR at the dam. I did so without killing them, but in the end I disabled House, turned away the Legion, and gave the dam to the NCR but with the warning that they had to stay away from New Vegas... it was mine. Even though it wasn't really an official choice... my alligance was to the Followers. The way it played out in "my" canon... the Brotherhood patrols the wasteland, the Bear protects the dam and the trade route out to Cali, and I keep the peace in NV, Freeside, and the surrounding area. New Vegas (the game itself) doesn't give you much opportunity to remain the pure, hero of the people... unless you take over yourself. I'm all for the Bear in my latest run, and I didn't bother with recruiting Veronica at the I-88. Knowing that the NCR would just ask me to kill the Brotherhood later anyway.
