Who does the narration?

She has an American accent, but then she'll say a word that's just a little funny. I keep wondering if she's Irish.

Does anyone know her name?

Oddly enough, they don't credit her on any of the show's bio pages, it's like they're keeping it hush-hush. Strange.. Even on ID Discovery, she's not listed under the cast members.

Anyway- Her name is Valerie Haselton Drescher AKA Valerie Haselton, she has 2 pages here on IMDB:

As V.H: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1709442/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1

As V.H.D: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4865559/?ref_=fn_al_nm_2

I've read posts from people that simply hate the narration style, they feel it's "cheap" and detracts from the program.

I actually like it- it's "campy" & it reminds me of the narration from old time radio shows or tv serials, not that I was around for them. lol
Those were before my time but from the recordings of old programs I've heard and from examples such as "A Christmas Story" and the like, the narration for "Who The Bleep" is reminiscent of "vintage" programs.

I love the narration on "Who The Bleep", both her voice & the vocal influx style.

Thank you! Very helpful. It's not bad. I don't mind it at all, campy doesn't bother me in this show.

It is really weird how they are keeping it so quiet.

No problem, you're welcome.

When I started searching I was surprised just how 'secret' they were keeping it. LOL I've never seen that with any other program..

It seems that lady is an experienced director- she's done a lot of programs that I've watched but I had never heard of her before.
Perhaps she's one of those people that prefers the "behind the scenes" low profile, rather than dealing with all the crud that comes from "fame" & being in the public eye.

Anyway- I enjoy this show and I'm happy to see there are others fans out there.

Have a grand one..

I think her voice, whoever she is, is absolutely perfect for the tone of this show. Just ever-so-slightly snarky. What happens on the show is terrible but her hairsbreadth-away-from-condescending tone lightens the load just a bit. Would be a completely different show without her.

Don't change a thing-she's perfect! Now if they would only go back to the ending piano and voice song they played in seasons 1-3 it would still be solid gold!

pikabo
are you sure valerie is the narrator?
her imdb credits say she is an ep and a director.

what research has you thinking valerie is the narrator ?
thanks.

reply

Sorry for the LATE reply.
Yeah, positive.. It isn't listed anywhere online, it's strange, like "they" are trying to keep it hush-hush for whatever reason.
The narrator credit is flashed very quickly at the end of each epi. That's how I got confirmation.

This was a terrible quality You-Tube video but here's a screencap.
Cheers

I absolutely cannot stand the narrator. The show is hard enough to watch with all the silly shots of people staring menacingly into the camera. But the chick who narrates it really grates on me. She's so pretentious, affected, and snarky. What the hell?

Can I get an amen?
