RE: whether or not the "GI Joe" theatrical release made money or not: according to Box Office Mojo, the movie's combined domestic and international grosses were $302,469,017.00. Factor in domestic and international DVD sales, rentals, on-demand and cable/network TV sales and it more than made back its budget and might have even made back its promotional budget as well. But it didn't reignite the brand or sell toys the way Hasbro wanted, so there was no further development of this project.
And whether or not there are "Family Ties" or "Wonder Years" toys, there are toy commercials aired between segments. Do you really think that the Hub puts shows on the air for the good of mankind?
