Its not cancled.

People are saying the show is canceled but it is not. According to this there going to focus on the second G.I joe movie and release Renegades season 2 along side the movie.

"…we’re very pleased with the performance of G.I. JOE RENEGADES on The Hub. The series will go on hiatus at the end of season one while the second installment of the G.I. Joe movie franchise is being produced so Hasbro and Hasbro Studios can ensure the creative and storyline continuity that fans of the films and the series expect. We’ll have original episodes into the summer and we envision resuming new animation following the movie."

What i do not get is why are they doing a Transformers spin off already?

reply

It's because of the vagueness of the press release and the long hiatus. It says we envision resuming new animation following it doesn't say we envision bringing back Renegades after the movie. It could be a totally new G.I.Joe Cartoon or it could be Renegades Season 2.

No Tv station whould be dumb enough to cancel a show thats doing great. Ill be shock id the show dose not come back when the movie is made. Season 2 should be them creating the actual G.I joe team.

reply

Also Envision a new animation chould mean multiple things. The lead character designer is dead and not every one is vary fund of the animation the show has right now.

reply

I'm with ya man I hope you are right I just am skeptical that's all I really enjoy the show and like you said would love to see them creating the actual G.I. Joe Team.

reply

I'm hoping for another season, this show is getting better with every new episode...

The show is cancelled. Period. There is no staff, no crew, nothing. After Season One was finished, everyone was let go.

The Hub network is not the entity paying to produce the show: that would be Hasbro Studios. Hasbro Studios gets their funding from Hasbro, Inc. And the big guys decided to end the show because it doesn't jibe with plans for where to take the franchise in the future. So if there is another animated Joe show, it's not going to be "Renagades".

Chuck once again they didn't even officially say its canceled. Ive seen shows that went on a long break. Heck the article even points more at this long break then a cancellation! Also News Flash The Hub is Hasbro.

YOur claiming they let the cast go. Source?

reply

News flash - The Hub is owned by Hasbro, but it is not Hasbro. It's the same way NBC was not GE. And the show wasn't "canceled", per se; Hasbro Studios did not receive funding to make a second season. I think it's splitting hairs or semantics to argue this point. The end result is the same: no new episodes scheduled for production.

Source? I worked on the show. Everyone was let go. The voice cast finished their commitments late last year. They may be under contract to return if/when a second season is greenlit. I do not know this.

All I know is that there is no creative staff whatsoever on "Renegades" at this point. The only people still working on it are in post, who are still assembling the animation as it comes in from South Korea and editing the shows into shape for air.

Everyone has either been let go or moved over to "Transformers".

how can they co-inside the second season of this show with the second movie if half the characters aren't even in the second movie. No Scarlett, no Baroness, etc. Doesn't make sense. As a chick I've never been into g.i. joe until this show. Love the stories, love how they made them renegades, and LOVE how they did snake eyes. If it cancelled it is the Hub's loss. The Hub is screwing over Transformers Prime big time by putting in long breaks in between episodes and the episodes are being broadcast in Canada and thus all over the internet so when the Hub finally decides to air those episodes no one will watch. It's sad as Transformers Prime is my favorite show going right now.

If there is going to be another animated Joe show, it will almost certainly be set up so that it more or less works alongside the new movie. They will probably change the characters who appear in it to better match up with the theatrical release.

Just a guess, of course.

I agree.

Perhaps you're right, but it's still Hasbro's loss as it won't be the same and you'll have to get a whole new audience that won't be fickle about losing the old show. Not an easy thing to do.

Mr. Muson may I ask what you did on the show?
(not debating you just generally curious)
And may I ask if you were moved to Transformers or another project, or let go?
What are you doing now in TV?

canceled or not..... if a show is going to be on an extended hiatus... over a year.... are you going to continue to pay the cast and crew for over a year? no.... you're going to let them go...... then if the show does somehow go back into production, i'm sure something will be figured out... besides gi joe is too popular....

reply

While there is a precedent of animated shows being placed on hiatus or canceled then brought back sometimes years later, it's far, far more common for canceled shows to stay dead.

and Family Guy for that matter. It was cancelled and then producers saw how well the DVDs were selling so they brought it back.

reply

They are going to bring the show no doubt they are having hiatus but because this show is doing big for the Hub.

Makes sense to me. I just hope it's a second season and not a totally different show, cause I really enjoying the show and I really liked how the last episode showed all the people that they had met or helped along the way coming together to start up the G.I. Joes.

A boat that floats on water can also sink in it.
