bad acting

I'm not trying to be mean, and so I'm sorry because it'll sound that way, but not all the acting was good. The best acting is the town folk during the all interviews; really well done. But Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey, I'm sorry, both nice guys but their acting job was not convincing at all. At no point did I suspend the sense of disbelief that I was watching these 2 actors. They were both over the top and campy, which can't be said of any of the other actors. It was a good movie overall, well directed, but I apologize for being so honest about the cheesy acting.

I loved their acting, possibly JB's best performance.

Same. And Mud is fantastic. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

To be fair I thought Jack Black was quality, his best performance. As for MM he has been immense these last 2 years, including this film.

Good acting
Superb actually.

You can feel however you want. You don't need to apologize.

Nobody cares what you think anyway. :)

The acting was dead on perfect for the characters IMO. Black can be cheesy, he was perfection here.

reply

People who know Bernie Tiede say that Jack Black played him perfectly.

Absolutely positively overWHELMINGLY disagree.

Me too - good movie, and JB was AWESOME! As was Sonny Carl Davis (the map of Texas guy).

Wow, just wow... You couldn't be more wrong about Jack Black. His was a transcendent performance.

Matthew McConaughey was average, and a bad casting choice, frankly. But I guess he's buddies with Linklater, so there you go.

reply

I agree.
Jack Black was great.
I can't think of another actor who could have acted, danced, & sang any better than Jack did , (in his portrayal of Bernie).
