Did anybody else thought this was a prequel to Weekend At Bernie's?

Never watched this movie and not planning on it. But seeing Jack Black as a man named Bernie, that is clean-cut and sporting a mustache, the first person that popped into my head was Bernie Lomax from Weekend at Bernie's. It would've been awesome if it was a prequel, showing him how much of a scumbag he was before he got whacked by the mob. Showing him how he orders the mafia to whack the people that were involved of the insurance fraud, hiding the money, destroying the evidence, and just commits adultery left and right. How the movie would end, it will be the scene when Richard and Larry enters his office, and Bernie asks, "Gentlemen? What can I do you for?" Walks off screen and cuts black.

Obviously, this will never happen, but Jack Black would make a perfect young version of Bernie Lomax.
