Thanks for posting.

To those people wandering elsewhere on this board if the townspeople real or not, at least some of them were because they also appear in this linked news program.

I do like how it showed how the movie got so many the small details right, like how Bernie was at a pizza party for a little kids baseball team when the police approached him. Though thy did leave out the part about the gay video tapes and the real reason they moved the trial.

Also, did they use the actual Nugent house in the movie? It looked just like the one in the TV program.

Oh, and Matthew McConahay is a dead ringer for the real-life Danny Buck. LOL.

The movie was made because Richard Linklater is from Texas and made the movie especially because of his interest in Bernie.

I stumbled on to this movie and was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it.
Then, to find out that this movie was based on a REAL STORY,truly amazed me even more.
So, I looked it up, and sure thing, this movie was pretty accurate.
Mrs. Mugget was indeed deemed the "meanest woman in Texas". Wow, she really was as mean as the movie made her out to be! (and which , btw, the role was played perfectly by Shirley McLaine).
Bernie is out on BAIL, by the way.
