So DEFIANCE is funded but BSG is...

Effectively dead. !?!???

No wonder they now call themselves the

SKEE-VEE Channel.

And since the name change I had been mispronouncing it as Siffy. I'm so embarrassed!

But Skee-vee seems very appropriate.

I caught about two minutes of "Defiance" the other night.

I quickly changed the channel.

I lasted less than 3 episodes of that puke fest Defiance. I don't understand how anyone can try to defend it.

Thankfully we at least a couple decent shows (Continuum & Orphan Black) being produced completely north of the border now! If these had been Skee-Vy Channel productions they probably would have already been cancelled! I hope more NEW sci-fi is undertaken under Canadian productions, as it will at least get a chance to see the light of day.

On another note, AMC is also apparently developing its own ORIGINAL Scifi series, BALLISTIC CITY.

So maybe this can all be seen as a passing of the baton by Skee-Vy Channel.. Since it really looks like they don't give a rats ass about even trying to produce quality programs anymore, we are all better served by other channels taking up the Scifi banner!!

Good riddance Skee-Vy Channel !!

The series had a definite end, the Galactica and the fleet sent into the sun.

Series over.

I suppose they could do a series set during the war with a younger Adama, but we wouldn't get a younger Tigh (unless they had constructed sets for two ships and had them near missing each other, which would get old real quick).

My choice would have a different battlestar and some civilian ships running from the Cylon attack on the Colonies and escape through a wormhole or something, end up on the other side of the galaxy and as they build a new homeworld, they discover that a wartime period Cylon basestar had crashed somewhere near them and these Cylons had evolved differently than the rest.

Perhaps they restart their own little war, or maybe the Cylons had troubled another alien race and human and Cylon need to work together to survive it...

Saul Tigh wouldn't necessarily have to be a "younger" version -- being a machine, the Tigh who arrived at the Twelve Colonies at the end of the First Cylon War could very easily be the "older" Michael Hogan incarnation as a younger one...and in fact, this is the very approach taken by the (excellent) BSG: The Final Five graphic novel from 2009.

BSG cost more to make do to heavy CGI battles in every episode

reply

Most of defiance is cgi. And now with their own render farm they can make it rather easily and cheap. You might have noticed that skeeveee now has a bunch of skeevee cgi films out using a lot of cgi like they were just free. Actually once you render one drone the rest are free anyway but heck they sure are going over board with it. I would think defiance would cost more since they use a lot of make up and it coss over 100 mil for the 10 episodes. BSG didnt cost anything like that and This one only cost 2 mil to make 5 years later and using entirely new sets. So cost if not the issue... Most likely they have no decent script and no one wants to do one. Caprica was getting better though. But as always skeevee kills anything that can develop a following. They want reality shows which dont cost anything to make and fat guys with beer guts sit and watch it.

But I thought that Tigh and Adama had known each other for decades. It would have been weird and suspicious if he kept looking exactly the same.

reply

They met ten years after the end of the war, three decades before the events of the miniseries.
