If Cylns hate humans so much why bother trying to emulate us?

Doesn't it seem odd that the Cylons would bother trying to grow organic bodies if they hate organics so much?

According to Athena in the BSG episode "The Farm" - it's because of God's commandment - "be fruitful".

Problem was they picked up a bible by mistake. They were aiming for a mechanic's manual instead. Stupid fraks.

Ah, but humans are imperfect, whereas the Cylons are the next evolutionary step. They will succeed where humanity failed.

As others have said, it's that humans are doing it wrong that bothers them. It's not the fact that humans are organic that bothers them, it's how humans are. So maybe the cylons want to be a lot like humans, but "better".

Cause they are sitting on a ton of oil and gold.

One reason because its essential for their evolition so they can reproduce sexually.

Also it could have something to do with the chip that was implanted in the Cylon prototypes which contained the avatar of Zoe Greystone. Zoe was only able to exist in the real world in a Cylon body and wanted one of human appearance. When the chip was copied it probably copied certain traits of zoes personailty, things like the belief in the one God and the want for a human body which became an instinctual need for all Cylons.

They hate how they've effectively spoiled away what they believe is God's gift to humanity. Wisdom, life, etc.

Therefor Cylons believe that it is their duty to perfect what humans have perverted in sin.

Caprica goes into detail as to where the origins of these ideas stem from, which is a teenager trying to become human again in her own effort to reunite herself with her parents. The problem is, prior to her death, she believed in an occult that carried the ideas of a monolithic diety.

It does seem strange that people who were so oppressed by the SS now emulate them even better than the originals could ever have dreamed off.
