Just saw the movie. (My review plus spoilers)

Well, I saw Death Bell 2 online. (Just search Google if you wanna see it, one of the links to see the movie is on the first page). And I have to say...it's good, but DEFINITELY not as good as the first one.

First off, the character development is severely lacking. I didn't feel as much attachment to the characters as I did in the first one. The movie just jumps off to too quick of a start for any good development to go on.

Secondly, and this connects with the first, it was too rushed. There are less deaths in the movie than the first one, I believe. There wasn't much build-up for when the kids were locked in on the campus and the rest of the movie after that. I felt like the director of the movie was just rushing to finish this movie and release it to make some quick money. There wasn't any memorable moments either. I understood the entire plot, but I felt like it would've been better if it was more fleshed out, so to speak. The ending was rushed as well. It was so confusing, that I have no idea what the hell just happened.

Thirdly, the kills aren't done in the same way as the first one is. In the first one, you had to save some of the kids from being killed by solving an extremely complex puzzle. But in THIS movie...there weren't even any puzzles at all, except for one. It felt more like a slasher movie. The director himself said that he didn't want to do the EXACT same formula for the deaths in this one, like he did in the first one. while I understand he doesn't want to copy himself, it certainly all could've been in a better way.

Fourthly, this movie has ZERO connections to the first one. No one makes any reference to the first movie, and no characters from the first movie appear in this. This is basically an alternate version of the first Death Bell.

Lastly, the ending made ZERO sense. I know, endings not making sense are common in Asian horrors, but in this ending, it's hard to tell if the girl that died in the showers was a ghost that set the main girl free, or that the main girl drowned and everything after that is happening in an afterlife. It also doesn't show what happened to the main girl's friend and to the other kids that escape. There is no REAL aftermath in this movie, unlike the first one. It just kind of ends on a blank note. There's no closure.

All in all, I rate this movie a 5/10. There's a twist in the movie that shocked me and the acting was pretty decent, along with a couple deaths. This movie had HUGE potential to be just as good as the first one, but ultimately, it failed because it was rushed.
