Annoyed with Ryan being a pushover

I was really annoyed in the episode where Ryan refused to take $1000 for watching Jenna's dog when he was missing the rent, for some reason. He really is beholden to her. Is it because he thinks he might get with her someday. Even so, I would have taken the money or some of it when he's that desparate.
