Canceled/Ended Shows Tribute

To just have a tribute for Law & Order, Lost, and 24 is kind of a slap in the face to all the other shows that do not get to come back in the fall. Granted, im not saying to have every show included, but shows like Nip/Tuck, Heroes, and Scrubs. The other shows that have been around for more than one season. There are many more also, but if the Academy Awards can have a tribute for horror movies, I think the Emmys can have a tribute for all or most ended shows. And not in an annoying way by having Jimmy Fallon impersonate various artists and sing horrible cover songs.

Very true. They should have mentioned Scrubs at least. It was one of the best shows and one of my favorites!

Scrubs yes but heroes I am not so sure about. Heroes could get renew for a mini series.

Law and Order was going to overshadow nip tuck and heroes anyway

I think it was because those shows had the most prominent finales. All the other shows you mentioned pretty much went out quietly.

I agree with you on that to be honset with you was not even aware that nip/tuck was even cancelled.

I think it is because these shows are iconic - each in their own way.

I'm just shy that way

While I do agree with all of you that the three shows given tribute to are much more popular, those three have been involved with the Emmys since they all started. By that, I mean best actor/actress, best director, and the more prominent awards. Not just “creative make up” and others. All I am saying is that they should have had a 5-10 minute tribute to honor all the hard work on TV shows that have come to an end this past year.

@littlesis1774,Ryan Murphy announced season 6 would be the final season of Nip/Tuck after the first half of season 5 finished in 2008. I am also pretty sure that every time they advertized for season six’s start and the individual episodes, they said “the final season.” It was not cancelled, but Heroes sadly was indeed. They tried to get NBC to have a “farewell” mini-series, but they said the only option is a TV movie and that might not even happen.

Here’s the link to an article reporting on NBC’s announcement...

ALSO: while I am a fan of Heroes and have been since season 2, I am the first to admit it has many problems. However, I do think it opened up the genre of average people gaining super-human powers for televison shows (look at some of the new shows like No Ordinary Family). It also deserved some recognition from NBC for being able to last for four years. Most shows are lucky if they make it past the first 13 episodes without getting the axe.

@KCohere, wasn’t Law & Order cancelled and they never got a chance to end things respectively? I’m just curious because I never really watched it that much and heard they tried to get a TV movie and there was even talk of it being picked up on another network.

I dont really know. Im a fan of the show but I didnt watch the finale. All I know is that there was a big uproar about it being cancelled when it was so close to usurping Gunsmoke as the longest running tv show of all time.

I love cold case so don't get me wrong but Lost,24 and Law and Order are much ironic then cold case. Law and Order been on for 20 years. Lost is just as famous as law and order. Fans of lost had farewell lost party. 24 just as iconic as well

I thought the tribute was kind of lame and stupid. It could of been much better and I agree that shows such as Scrubs and Cold Case should of been added. Oh well.
