The companys motivations for turning on the hunter?

First I would like to say that I truly enjoyed the movie and it's atmosphere, but I did have some trouble figuring out the motivations to some of the actions.

First of all, why did the company turn on the hunter? Was it because he stirred up too much trouble with the locals and therefor got too much attention? I don't see how bringing a new hunter there and killing the old one is a better alternative.

Secondly, why did Sam Neils character keep the wife drugged up? Was it for her not too ask questions about her husbands death?

The atmosphere is the movie. As common with movies based on novels a lot of questions remain unanswered.

Maybe Jack was paid by the company to keep Lucy in the dark.

Uh pretty sure it was greed, no? The monetary stakes were so high that they wanted him out of the picture once he found it, they werent taking any chances. He was being monitored the whole time and they only expedited their plan once they found out he had gotten wonky on them with the family.
