The only thing that I didn't get, or at least it wasn't explained, was who put the camera in front of the hunter's trap? And why would they put it there anyway since it was so easily detected? I presume it was the other hunter whom we saw in the beginning that the boss guy wanted to go with Dafoe's character but, again, if so then why? I read several pages in to the forum on this but no one mentions it. Well,until now anyway.

The camera is not watching one of Martin's traps - it's watching a hung beast set up by whomever installed it.
Could have been the protesters, working for 'the government'. Could have been PWS, could have been DPIPWE, could have been another researcher - who knows.
It's not a plot hole. It's just not spelt out in the story, because it didn't really need to be. As you mentioned yourself, there are other shadowy individuals working for different organisations involved in the search, who may have set the camera up. There are other threads too left open-ended in the story, such as what really happened to Jarrah. That's what real life is like sometimes. We aren't always given the definitive answers.🐭
