This is one movie that could have been great with Gundams/Gypsy Dangers

I haven't watched this movie but i read the plot synopsis on wikipedia.
It's a good movie, and Willem Dafoe is clearly great in it.

But I think if only they had put in a few giant mech Gundams and Gypsy Dangers and a massive sudden war engulfs Tasmania and in the end the Tasmanian Tiger survives and Willem Dafoe goes "Well, I'll be danged" at the end, it would have been truly great.
