nothing like the book

I LOVE the book that this film is based on so maybe i am not capable of being unbiased... If I had not seen the title of this movie before I watched it, I would NEVER have guessed that it was based on the book!
It clearly is! I mean the story followed closely enough to still be considered an adaption. I just feel like the tone of th emovie completely missed the tone of the book.
Am I alone in thinking this?
I did enjoy the movie... just thought I should point that out.
