Tarantino fans must be angry.

The makers of this film ripped off all of his hackneyed, ham fisted techniques and had a field day with them. Didn't expect too much given the reviews but I was amused.

The film was spoofing bad Mexican films and TV programs not Tarantino, so his fans will sleep easy. The film was s h i t though.

I understand that. It's just that it had his ham fisted techniques that his fans think are "genius."

Tarantino is better known for his writing. As a director he is competent, his techniques he does steal from other directors, and some of his story lines he does steal wholesale from other movies. The reason I like him is because of his writing and his ability to structure a film, also the great actors he has in his movies. I wouldn't call him a genius though.

That is a well reasoned and thoughtful response. Well played sir! I do like his movies but they always strike me as somewhat over the top.

I love Tarantino movies and I loved Casa de mi Padre. I don't understand why I'm supposed to be angry about it. Tarantino uses a lot of techniques, scenes, and even entire plots from other movies, but he doesn't try to fool anybody; if you've seen the movies he's stealing from, it's pretty obvious what he's taking. He then uses those things to make something new and, love them or hate them, they're movies with a certain identity. Casa de mi Padre mostly takes elements from Mexican soap operas and has a lot of fun with them. There are things to enjoy in both approaches, but liking one doesn't mean you can't like the other.

I think Tarantino would appreciate it......i'm sure he doesn't take his stuff too seriously.

Assume nothing; Question everything

I think the parody was on all types of "mexican type" films - some include Tarantino or Robert Rodriguez... and everyone borrows and steals from each other - AND if they are good - they make it their own. Often the beg, borrowing and stealing is done in homage or parody - some day other people will realize this.

This movie was hilarious and I've seen it with subtitles and without - and I barely speak spanish ... also the bad spanish and bad english helped a bit too.

Also, Tarantino fans are not Christopher Nolan fans ...
