Dont get me wrong, I understand perfectly the type of humor; hey, I loved Nacho Libre and find most Ferrel movies hilarious. But I just found this one falls way behind his usual movies. Also, I did find funny Ferrel's spanish, hilarious trying to sound as in a latin-soap opera, but the terrible accent in his "pals" even though they looked 100% latin american kind of killed it; I had to watch it with subtitles to be sure I understand them (I speak spanish). I stopped watching at 30 minutes and switch to another episode of Breaking Bad.
Overall..interesting project that had a lot of potential to be much funnier that it ended up being. Fail.

A Chilean friend of mine recommended this to me, said it was hilarious. I didn't see it at all. There was nothing really clever about this movie. I understand it satirizes spanish telenovelas but for a comedy to succeed it needs to be more than just a parody. I was well and truly bored for most of it and did end up switching to breaking bad like the above poster.

I completely Agree. This was not funny at all. Nothing about this made me smile even once. Very boring and very slow.

I guess the people making this thought most of the laughs would come Only from seeing Will Ferrell trying to speak spanish. But seeing a white person trying to speak spanish is not that funny, And trying to make a full movie out of it... really really not funny

I was thinking exactly like you - in fact I came on the boards right about the 30 minute mark because it was so boring.

However, it really picked up right after that (the bar scene). There were a lot more sight gags, general humor and even Nick Offerman speaking Spanish with an American accent. Give it another shot starting from that point. Even though I don't watch telenovellas, from this spoof, I can imagine exactly how bad they must be.
