...where was the joke?

I couldn't find a single punchline, outside of the juvenile fourth wall/continuity gags.

It seems like a spoof, but of what?

I want to be what I was when I wanted to be what I am now.

It's a spoof of cheaply made Mexican movies and telenovelas.

..or maybe not lol http://www.SunbeltRyders.com

but is it a spoof when someone makes exactly what they are making fun of?
It's like If I do a satanic metal spoof album, And all I do in that CD is rap, without any funny jokes, singing about the devil, Wouldn't I just be making that same thing I am "Trying" to spoof?

It's like, when does a spoof become just the same boring and cliche thing they were trying to make fun of?

This wasn't funny, nothing about it was funny. no real jokes. just a lot of awkward moments and a lot of awkward silences and cliches. By the way, having Cliches in your movie without any jokes about them DO NOT make them funny. Just means you have cliches in your movie. Even if it is a spoof

Cliches without any jokes?

How about the brother still holding on to his glass of booze and drinking from it as he's getting shot during the (cliched) slo-mo, ridiculously violent climactic shootout? Or the villain taking one last drag of his Canadian Slims cigarette and saying "Oh, sh-t" before he dies?

How about seeing the gorgeous girl's flawless ass during the (cliched) beautifully filmed love scene, then seeing Farrell's lumpy ass being fondled and then him rolling around with a dark-skinned mannequin?

How about the father who's disappointed with his son (cliche), and constantly reminds him by saying things like "If you were truly smart, you would know how dumb you are. Look at your fat head."

How about the impossibly idyllic wedding ceremony interrupted by gunmen killing almost everyone in slo-mo (cliche). One survivor is casually smoking a cigarette while his wife lays dead beside him. The scene ends with a close up of a flower dripping blood, but you can still see the guy out of focus in the background.

I could rhyme off a dozen others, but it likely wouldn't change your mind. You either find that stuff funny or you don't. But to say the movie had cliches without making fun of them just means you weren't paying attention.

Or in my case means I gave up on the movie before any of those things happened. I started out expecting it to be making fun of bad telenovelas but it just looked like a bad telenovela and I never finished the movie. It needed some decent comedic jokes early on if it wanted to keep people from giving up.
