The Bhuddist Temple in China

In the 'India to Hong Kong' episode they climbed a long portion of stairs to get to a Bhuddist temple. Does anyone know where that was? It surprised me as I'm aware of how the Chinese (allegedly) destroyed so much of that type of culture in Tibet and wonder why this one was allowed to remain intact and as a tourist destination (if you will). Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.
