hate the dwarf

Im sorry but i dont like the dwarf. I give a *beep* about him beeing famous. He ruined the show for me. Hope season 4 got something more (or less) to offer. If you are out of ideas call me. Cheers

reply

He didn't ruin it for me but he annoyed me almost all the time. He couldn't be more full of himself or go on about all these roles he's played much more than he did. I don't know if I've seen an actor who took himself as seriously as he did. At least Karl called him out on this when he started to go on about it, "Oh here we go." Karl would say haha. But I did like the friendship they were starting to make by the end, we saw a different side of Karl. Sadly, this season was only 3 episodes, and there is no season 4 :( Just that god awful show Derek is the only chance to see Karl now.

It all felt like an act to me.

Jesus Christ you people are so sad and insensitive. Just because someone half your height makes at least $1mil a year doesn't man you have to lash out.

reply

^ What..? Who cares how much he makes? They're talking about how the guy takes himself way too seriously. And if you'd seen this final season of the show you'd see that yourself. He constantly complained about anything and everything and acted like he was a royal prick. He couldn't sit there with the conjoined twins because he was such an "actor" and he couldn't see the point of it. And he acted like such a big deal during the Bollywood movie shoot and at the end he complained about how the one short scene he was in, it wasn't a good take for him. Who the *beep* cares??!? It wasn't a movie about HIM.

He acted like a big diva and actually complained far more than Karl did. It made Karl look normal. And then the fact that the season was so short because he didn't want to do a longer season. Yeah, gimme a break. The little man ruined the final season of this show and people have a right to complain about it. But whatever, talk about his bloated salary all you want. That's the only defense you seem to have.

Yeah I agree, but they actually play on that side of him in Life's Too Short which is pretty funny. But he was really annoying in this show.

Never argue with a fool - they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Warwick ruins the whole damn show. I can't stand him. His attitude is the worst of all. He needs to have things his way it's so annoying. He DOES ruin the show and I hope next season he won't be around. It's not cause of his height I don't give a *beep* about how tall or short people are it all comes down to his attitude. And the whole I'm a serious actor thing gets under my skin so much. Look at the roles he has played. It had nothing to do with his acting but his height. He's rude and just plain awful.

Also Warwick got the best accommodations and Karl had to stay in some really gross places, and Warwick still complained. He should thank his lucky stars, because if he had been born in a poor country the only way he could make a living would be to do exactly what the spider sisters do.

He was a huge diva during the movie. He acted like he was an Academy Award winner. He only got the parts he got because of his stature, he doesn't seem to be an amazing actor, he just fits the bill for the movie. I wonder if he tried out for Game of Thrones and didn't get it, because the guy who did is a great actor.

Are all these negative remarks by British posters? As an American, I laughed myself to death watching all three episodes with Warrick Davis.

reply

I'm not British I'm also like you an American. Just put it out there because I saw your question mark. Was it funny at some points? Yes but overall I was bored and irritated with Warrick.

I enjoyed the shows and didn't find Warwick annoying either. I assumed the reason he didn't want to see the Spider Sisters was because they did nothing to earn their celebrity, they were just born that way. Warwick was born short and understands what it is like to have people look at him for that reason only. I figured he was trying to respect the sisters in his own way and didn't want himself to be put on show like them because he doesn't like being looked at for his height difference.

Anyway, I did think it was weird that he had different accommodations, but I assumed that was a trick that Ricky and Stephen planned to make Karl more upset and that it had nothing to do with Warwick's choice. But I guess I don't know that for sure.

Warwick did complain a little, but the whole point of the entire series is how much Karl complains about everything, so I really didn't notice it much because he was usually trying to help Karl see the good side of things while Karl was complaining.

reply

How is what Warwick does any different than what the spider sisters do? He doesn't get those roles because he's a good actor, he gets them because he's a dwarf. How did he "earn" his "celebrity" more than they did?

reply

Steveomac385 hit the nail on the head. Warwick is insecure with the idea of people being entertained by his size difference, more so than his talents or abilities. He resents the spider sisters because they're precisely the opposite - they're comfortable knowing they're different from everyone else. I don't see what's wrong with that honestly. I think Warwick was being a baby.

I still think he's cool though.

reply

I'm an American who has lived in England as well. There might've been a few chuckles here and there, but overall Warwick ruined this season with his bad attitude and diva actions. I don't think the show benefitted at all from having him. But of course, Ricky Gervais always takes care of his friends and gives them work. People like Warwick should thank their lucky stars they know him. Otherwise Warwick would've been a nobody, even in England.

Amazing how most of the anti-Warwick crowd, which is hilarious really because it seems you've totally missed the point of the programme, are American.

I think Warwick played up his 'actor' side because he knows it makes for entertainment, particularly with Karl. It was simply an extension of his Life's Too Short role, imo.
Both Warwick and Karl have an idea of what's required of them in the program, anyone doubting there's not a degree of acting from Karl hasn't seen Derek.

I thought series 3 was a good step forward, Karl with a companion works well when it's someone like Warwick.

reply

This is exactly what I thought. Though not technically scripted I think Warwick was put up to it to play up and drop his acting credentials just to get a rise out of Karl. Obviously it worked and also convinced a lot of people commenting here.

reply

That dwarf was the only reason I watched the show or heard about the show. And Warwick Davis is awesome.

Lots of mixed reactions here. I liked davis. S2 was a bit underwhelming and they needed to do something to spice it up.

reply

He didn't spice it up. He was not FUNNY or humourous or a fun person to be around. And the whole thing about the show is Karl complaining about things and Warwick would complain about Karl complaining. He did not say one humourous thing. Just a generally sour, sour person. Added nothing to the show, in fact detracts from it with all his whining about Karl.
