What a terrific sweet film. Wondered whether the actor who played Leo is actually blind. He was terrific in any case.
No he is not. However, he discussed that he actually learned braille while taking on the part of Leo.

Reminds me of when my high school drama department did the stage production of "The Miracle Worker". The whole cast got interested and learned the hand alphabet. By the end of the term, half the school knew it.
(I don't remember much of it any more -- recently, I successfully avoided my 50-year class reunion.)
