One problem- the cities for people totally ignores they are $ makers

It's interesting that the intro addresses this, but then all the urban planners seem to only address how projects and cities are designed.
Why do people that despite dramatically cheaper and efficient construction methods cities are becomig more and more unaffordable? Places like the Olympic or World Cup venues show a clear pattern of capital driving the development of cities coming from the wealthy classes that live halfway across the globe who use cities as an abstract Economc investment in real estate 95% of a cities residents cannot afford.
This is what drives suburban development in Phoenix- the guy says he just likes his home - as if we are considering just how it is to live and work in such a place VS how he and other homes owners are given large economic incentives to live in places that require a car to be a citizen, that grow grass and other water intensive resources in the desert.
