An explanation?

Beats me as well, we really need an explanation here

Terrible movie...ironic that a film about a formerly successful scriptwriter was itself such a terrible script that the poor formerly successful actors (Martin Landeau & Danny Glover) could do little with. I guess the murders, the PI, the cops, women, Senator, were just scenarios for the lead character's script. What a stupid and trite idea and waste of time! Have to be very careful with Red Box movies!

I'm guessing it was all just a dream?

This is why he has nothing typed on the paper from the beginning of the movie to the end, and this is why so many bizarre things happen throughout the movie that make no sense.

And I'm guessing we'll never know who the caller was as it cut to closing credits before we were able to find out--probably just the Billy Zane character getting after him again for that script!

Nothing made sense. It was crap.
