Terrible film, misleading and laughable

I had to laugh towards the end of the film. How she gushed and flattered Dickens when all he did was pursue a young girl for sex, then she got pregnant, baby died and decided to rush back to his family.

Yes, behind all the, "oh I can't help myself, what am I to do", it's just an old man wanting to shag a younger woman.

I can't even be bothered to admire any of their positions. An overly fan girly teen and a pervy old man. It's the makings of Jeremy Kyle or Jerry Springer but for the upper classes.

Utter joke of a film.

I can't believe Kristen Scott Thomas and Ralph Fiennes were behind this, but anything for a buck when pandering to the Dickens militia.

Such a boring movie! I usually love films like this, but this was just terrible, so overwrought and full of itself. I didn't care about anyone in it, except perhaps Dickens' kids.

There's a Dickens militia?!? Where do I join?

It's an OK film, nothing to shout about, but I'm enjoying seeing Fiennes and KST together after seeing them in The English Patient.

'but anything for a buck when pandering to the Dickens militia.'

They hang around in Kent at the weekends.

It's that man again!!

I believe it wasn't far off the mark biographically speaking.
