IMDB IS BANNED IN PRC

Do you know most Chinese can't access Youtube/Twitter/Facebook/blogspot and many others websites?
I can't even access IMDB,so I have to buy VPN to get through the GFW(Great FXXKING WALL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Firewall ).
Why?
Because of the party in this movie.

reply

VPN ftw

And yeah, the party is for some reason seriously paranoid about any sort of voiced dissent, even though they know no one with half a brain takes them seriously.

A lot of people I know went to see the movie because they got free tickets from the party, but they still walked out halfway through. This movie isn't just propaganda...it's BORING.

reply

Nobody takes it seriously LOL?

Those who burned themselves trying to defend their own property rights and freedom beg to differ. Those tens of thousands immigrant workers who took to streets in the past few weeks in Guangdong province beg to differ. According to you, there are at least tens of thousands in China who don't even have half a brain.

reply

Do you have reading comprehension problems or something? I obviously meant no one takes their propaganda *beep* seriously....

China has a great demo----CENSORED BY THE PARTY

@xjyk ...It's human instinct to want what you don't have but what we want isnt always what's good for us. I truly admire the Chinese & Cuban govt for being able to protect their country & ppls this long from becoming westernized. The kids here in the US and Britain are a mess. They spend more time on these social networks then they do in school. True enough Cuba has suffered "materialistically" but research what happened to the Hawaiians when our lands were stolen due to agriculture/ These movies never tell how they took 2000 Hawaiian boys and men out to sea and dumped them ..or the deseases they brought over to exterminate Hawaiians. The detils are in fact very ugly and thousands and thousands suffered. No diferent then gifting the Native Americans w/ deseased blankets. Now look at our islands, we're barely hung on to our culture & language

The difference is that you are free to post something like that or even make
a movie or write a book about it. A similar Cuban or Chinese topic could get
you killed. What they are protecting is not their people, they are protecting
their power. The West has it's faults, but we have much more freedom than they
do in Cuba or China.

reply

Seriously, have you been brain washed or sth?! You still believe people in China(I don't know what's going on in Cuba because I never live there)will get killed(?) by putting on similar topic?! What kind of times you are living in?! XD
Borrow ur words here: China has its fault, but they have much more freedom than you think(or, are told by western media). Plus, most Chinese don't give a damn at all to being disturbed from posting sth/movie in the same way as westners do, and more unlikly to take down the govenment for this, at least for now. Sounds upset to you but it's the really there(some regional incidents won't represent the whole pictures, it happens every day across the world. Sth just need to be done step by step, more importantly, in a Chinese way ;D

reply

Most Chinese web-users don't read English and don't even know IMDB. Plz try similar Chinese movie webs that also have millions of registered users.
movie.douban.com www.mtime.com/#
Plus, actually you don't have to pay anything to get through GFW unless you love GFW XD

its amazing how fearful and stupid the chinese government is.

they crave respect from the world, but they can't see that their own actions of being so fearful that they must ban innocuous websites shows that they are petty and frankly pathetic. no amount of nationalistic displays at events like the beijing Olympics gets around this fundamental issue, china always has a chip on its shoulder about being looked down upon, but chinas behavior is responsible for its own poor perception around the world.

Well, in 2014 and now 2015 imdb is not banned in China (any longer)...

I'm sitting in Shanghai and checking the newest stuff on this website.. without any VPN client...
and it's also loading pretty fast.
