Thank You for faith in a world filled with fear.

I really loved Duvall’s grace before his meal... “Thank You for this food in a world where many go hungry. Thank You for faith in a world filled with fear. Thank You for friendship where so many are lonely.” (need to see it again to get it word for word but it went something like that)

When reading boards like this one and seeing how many hate filled people attack any film with any type of religious message it helps to remember just how much they are lashing out in fear. Lack of true faith makes all people truly miserable eventually (and afraid) because they have nothing to truly strive for and will always be haunted by their own mortality. We all know misery loves company. They want to drag down and insult those who have a chance at peace. That in and of itself is quite sad.

Still, this movie is NOT a pure religious film. It's a story about golf, struggling to better oneself by prioritizing what is really important in life. The message of altering and living life on your own terms with faith and conviction resonates in a big way in this film.

No, we're not lashing out in fear, and we don't want to drag down and insult those who have a chance at peace. Most of us atheists lead happy and productive lives, enriching ourselves and others. It doesn't take Christianity to do that. Gandhi wasn't a Christian, but his life and works stand up when compared to any Christian - especially "Christians" like John Phelps, Ted Haggard, Jimmy Falwell, Jim Bakker, George Reker, and numerous pedophile Catholic priests. However, since Jesus is said to have loved children, perhaps that's where those priests thought they were doing something Christ-like.

If you believe that Christianity is the only way to peace for you, go for it, but please don't assume that it's the only way to peace for every person on this planet.

What we are is: tired of Christian hypocrisy (people who claim to be Christians, but certainly don't behave in a Christ-like manner), and tired of Christians forcing people of other faiths or no faith to live by their Christian dogma. If same-sex marriage offends a Christian, then the Christian shouldn't marry someone of the same sex; but that's not good enough, the Christian has to stop EVERYBODY from marrying someone of the same sex. If a Christian wants to believe in the Genesis creation myth, then do so; but that's not good enough either, the Christian wants EVERYBODY to be taught the Genesis creation myth.

Another reason this film gets bashed is because it isn't really a very good film, despite some incredible talents attached to it.

The film was tedious, predictable, completely lacking in dramatic tension. The ending, if it could be called such, was an insult to human intelligence.

The website tells us that the ending is really the beginning....of a sequel. Here's a prayer for you: God, save us all from any movie with the title Seven Days in Utopia Part 2.

I assure you that the older you grow the less peace you will find without acknowledging what 90% of the world population knows... that there is a higher power at work. When illness and/or despair fill your thoughts, finding that peace will become harder. Having nothing but the thought of darkness and being "switched off" fill your mind will wake you up in a cold sweat one day, but know that there really is hope. I literally pray that one day you find it and the truth.

You obviously have an irrational hatred of Christians. So, look elsewhere but God takes many forms.

"Everyone has faith in God though everyone does not know it. For everyone has faith in himself and that multiplied to the nth degree is God. The sum total of all that lives is God. We may not be God, but we are of God, even as a little drop of water is of the ocean." -MK Gandhi (Yes, non-Christian)

"I have no strength save what God gives me." -MK Gandhi

Where in his post did he display "hatred"?

I assure you that, at the age of 63, I am not finding less peace. In fact, I'm finding more as I grow older, and that is happening without a belief in your "higher power." Please don't assume that what works for you works for everybody - though that assumption is common among people who profess belief in God, and especially those who profess to be Christians.

Your prayers for me must have worked. I have found the truth (and the truth is that there is no God). Please stop praying for me, and do something more productive with that time and energy.

Keep telling yourself that, maybe you'll actually believe it one day but I really doubt it.
