Can Christians make any good films?

Guess not. They're too busy trying to use their movies to convert people.

What can you point to in this movie thats an attempt to convert people to Christianity?

Lets see..A Bible was shown, and Duval used the word God and something about Faith...Evangelism? Really?

This was a really well acted movie, and very well written movie which is about self discovery of the main character and finding out whats really important to him in life.

I did not see even the slightest glimer of an attempt to convert anyone to anything except to look at a bigger view of life.

Shhhhhhhh... don't let reason interfere with anyone's shear hatred or stupidity.

I think you mean a *smaller* view of life.

maybe the Lord is just trying to get your attention.

There was nothing wrong with this movie. I enjoyed it and didn't feel preached to at all...

Let me actually answer the OP's question....If this movie was made by Christians then YES they can indeed make some very good films.

So few movies come along these days that allow a person to think about the deeper issues in life, instead most main stream films tell the viewer what they should be thinking about any given issue,of course this is done very subtly so you hardly notice that you've just accepted a load of B.S. as fact.

This movie does none of that.. Time to find another fine arts film...

Have you even seen the movie?

And...to answer your question, there are lots of good movies made by Christians out there.

The movie is not trying to convert anyione.

Belief in God is just the point of view that Duvall uses in the film. The young lady refers to faith.

Our lead character does convert, yes but that's in the script and his choice.

If anyone converts to Christianity,it is their own choice. Made by them. Not because they saw a movie or because someone says so.

Imagine that, people who care about the lost and wanting to show them the Way. Horrors!

"Imagine that, people who care about the lost and wanting to show them the Way."

Oh look! Another snooty Christian who thinks anyone that's not a part of her faith is lost!

To answer your question, both Denzel Washington and Randall Wallace have made some great films, most of which don't try to convert anyone.

about halfway through this movie and havent really noticed any religious influence. I can think of many reasons so far why this movie sucks and none of them have anything to do with it being some sort of christian film.

robert duvall tries to be bagger vance but ends up coming off more like hank haney. the philosophies all seem to contradict one another and I'm feeling very uninspired by it lol. I prefer Will Smith talking about the authentic swing.

ok, i'm getting to some religious stuff now. lol this *beep* is hilarious. i could deal with it if the story was any good, but sadly it's not. paint a picture, throw some horseshoes, and believe in god and you can be tiger woods

Now where's that cake?
