Two big problems with the movie

Now, I have seen a lot of Christian films and I am a Christian, so I'm not here to talk about faith or whatever.

The two biggest problems with the movie filmwise are first, the scene where he writes the lies he was told and has to bury them, the song over that montage sucked and was too literal for what was going on in the scene. It was almost like in Team America, having them singing about a montage while they did a montage. Score probably would've worked a lot better. Or maybe link a song that was being sung at church with it. It just didn't work and it wasn't a very good song.
Second, when he goes home and his father says he's sorry. That came out of nowhere. His father was on his case all his life and now just saw the error of his ways after he walked away and is now changed and everything is fine. In a perfect world that would happen, but if you have a father pushing you to be the best at a sport, he's not just going to turn over night. I think that scene really hurt the movie and made it less believable.

Odd, you're a Christian who doesn't believe people can change?

I, too, thought the father said he was sorry too fast and "out of no where". It would have worked better if the son would have explained what he was going trough first.

I wonder if the book was different.

My two biggest problems with your review is (1) You're Christian and used the word "sucked", and (2) you' don't accept the son forgiving his father.
