This Movie is Racist

Utopia, Texas is not what it looks like in the movie. i have been through utopia many times and there are no friendly road side eateries and local yocals with cowboy hats and there are for sure no wise old retired golfers with words of wisdom and religious nonsense. there are however lots of mexicans which was not shown at all in the movie which makes this movie completely racist.

It's clear at this point that you are a troll. According to you, this movie, True Grit, A League of Their Own, Chronicle, and Seven Days in Utopia are all "racist."

Also, you eloquently commented on the movie ZigZag as "just as retarded as zigzag who had the down syndrome."

To boot, you seem to ask the same questions that a ten year old, incapable of constructing an inference, would ask. You simmer over the smallest nuances of a movie, and you clearly don't understand what racism really is. Movies that reflect racial perceptions of the time ARE NOT RACIST. Idiots like you water down the term and make people roll their eyes when somebody observes and cries true racism. You rarely return to a post to defend your absurd claims, and quite frankly, nobody likes you.

Be gone, troll.

reply

lol, i forgot about zigzag. terrible terrible movie.

reply

Well, I think it is racist but for other reasons. Luke's arch rival is an Asian guy who looks all menacing dressed in black while all the Caucasian Christian types are all in pristine white. That is, apart from the obvious fact that everyone else in the movie is white as white can be.

reply

yea! unlike the person who called me a troll, i live in texas and i have been to utopia lots of times and it is not not some white bred hick town. its full of dark skinned hispanic people.

The ignorance in this thread is astonishing. Having a 100% white or black cast is NOT racist. And quite apart from that, any film maker should be free to depict any world he likes. The viewer is free to not watch the film.

It seems to me that the most racially divisive people are the ones counting the members of each race in a film and complaining when it doesn't meet their personal preference.

The other golfer is an actual pro (KJ Choi), so he would not have participated if he believed this was a racist movie. You're reading way too much into it!

reply

Apparently you have NO idea what the word racist means, but you feel the urge to publish your ignorance here.

reply

Racism isn't just showing prejudice against someone. If the poster's been to Utopia, TX, he know more about the area, even if his use of the word 'racist' doesn't fit well.
How about "This movie is lame, geographically inaccurate, and has a christian agenda that is hidden until the last reel"?

"Stalker?"
"Yup, bigtime"

As a native Texan, I'm more disturbed by Hollywood's continual portrayal of Texans as a bunch of cowboy hics. A horse on a golf course - give me a break.
Also - being Mexican is a nationality, not a race. You're confusing it with the term Hispanic.
