Excellent

I haven't read the comic arc it's based on, so it may just be a case of it being quite a faithful interpretation of fantastic source material (which is commendable in itself), but this film really did blow me away in terms of its profundity and voice acting.

I have to confess, I find most Superman films/ cartoons/ tv series terrifically boring, as I never really feel a sense of threat...so to see him fight ideological battles such as he did in this and the more recent Superman vs The Elite is far more compelling.

8/10!

Agreed. I've heard unbelievable tings about how good the comics were so when I saw this available on Netflix, I hesitated because I thought I owed it to myself ot real the source material; the best material.

When it was on HBO this morning though, I thought "why not".
Very glad I did.
The story was truly interesting and they showed that Lex Luthor is so much more than your average villain.

More than that, I like that Superman, for all practical purposes, died.
How about that!

Great story!

I would say it's not so much Lex Luthor (who was just a smart mobster originally) as what the supervillain archetype has to offer.

"Need" is just a fiction. As is "should", "must", "value" and "importance".

How could Lex not figure out that Clark is Superman with all what happened at the jail?
That amazed me.
Clark even warned Lex of an attack that he saw coming through the wall with his xray vision.
Or his sensitivity to the high frequency from the library bot... or Parasite's call for the power of the sun it saw (in Clark) when there were only Lex and Clark left? (And Lex was the guy who just some days before "sent" Superman to the sun well knowing what it'll cause)

morrison was very much paying tribute to classic superman stories, where despite the obvious clues, no-one ever figured out who superman was; you can either find that charming or exasperating - both reactions are understandable imo.

Thx
Then it's funny.
Like a parody.

(I don't know any Superman comics)

Fully agree. I was surprised with how much I ended up like this movie.
