Great movie but confusing as hell

As the thread title says, great movie gave it an 8/10 but it seems more like a comic-book tie-in or something than actually a full story, not having read the Supes comics (only seen most of the Animated series, movies and having mostly read a lot of cross-overs and JLA etc.) I didn't really know who half of the characters were like the blond doctor right at the start, the two kryptonians, Samson, the sun-eater etc. and there was very little introduction.

Also the pacing seemed off (e.g. lots of stuff happening too fast) and both the beginning and ending were kind of abrupt :P

That was very much in keeping with the ASS comic series though, Grant Morrison doesn't do a ton of exposition, he sort of lets you figure it out, while giving all pertinent information. This was from a standalone series that is inspired by some of the Golden Age tales of Superman.

I had read the original and some other Superman comics so I was familiar with characters like Solaris but I do agree about the pacing...this film needed to be maybe 15-20 mins longer as there were an abundance of characters. I still really liked it!

ASS comic series, lol...

It is pretty rushed, cramming most of a 12 issue series into 75 minutes. I highly recommend reading the original comics; they are some of the best Superman stories ever told.

The blonde doctor was introduced just for this story. There is a lot of speculation that he's a future version of a reformed Lex Luthor. It's never explicitly stated, but there's a lot more evidence in the book to support this theory. He has a much bigger role in the book than in the movie.

In time, they will join you in the sun. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

And they never mentioned the broken moon again. Oo

I was like 'what the heck, they damaged the moon badly. That's baaad... for earth'
The moon, as it is... round and whole, is important for the stability of the earth.

Another thing was... Superman is away for just two months and miraculously some Kryptonians pop up, occupy his fortress, are the cliche douches but are doomed as well.

I haven't seen the movie, did they show Supes repairing the moon with the bridges?
