Your thoughts on season 2?

Still great but not as excellent as season 1, which was just about perfect to me.
It was a bit morose and in some parts maudlin, and exposed some of the limitations of Steve and Rob since most of the impressions were of the same people as in season 1.
I was disappointed but maybe my expectations were set too high.

If the opposite of Love is indifference, what's the opposite of Hate?

That is really interesting to me, as someone who completely missed the first series and was put onto this recently by a friend...

... only to discover it is one of the best 'sitcoms' I have ever seen. Yes, there is indeed a maudlin undercurrent, with all the fantasising about murdering each other and the tackling of issues such as the horrible ease of infidelity and the fragility of ego. But it is all so beautifully and convincingly played, set against such gorgeous backdrops and counterbalanced, crucially, by some of the funniest material I have enjoyed in ages. I have cried with laughter with every episode.

So... I find it hard to believe the first series could be even better than the six episodes I have recently devoured on BBC iPlayer – but, I just ordered the DVD, so I'm very much looking forward to finding out. (And yes, of course I bought the box set of all 12 episodes to enjoy again through the years ahead.)

Will the North of England really serve as well as all that Italian gorgeousness? Will it matter that I have watched the guys' adventures the wrong way round? Will I miss Alanis Morissette, performed by 'Sir Roger Moore' or otherwise?!
Bring it on!

I'm sure that you'll enjoy the first season as much as I did, mate.
The Yorkshire countryside is where I grew up so maybe I'm a bit biased, but some of the dialogue will have you reaching for the pause button before you physically hurt yourself laughing.
I wish that I could experience again for the first time, so am quite envious.
Cheers, Will

Ha ha! Pause button at the ready. BBC Shop says it has dispatched. (Same price as Amazon, but with added tax morality!)
