Gets better with time

Like many I wasn't to impressed with Outcasts after the first couple of episodes. however I stuck with it and was pleasently surprised as the show gets better with each episode. The final ep was a real cliff hanger. Sadly because it didn't peform instantly and there wern't lots of bangs and explosions it probably won't be back for a second season. I suggest people watch the whole season before making up their mind, it's difinatly worth it.

When does it get better exactly? I've watched the first seven episodes (all except the finale) and it is still not good.

In fact the only good thing about this show is Amy Manson (who plays Fleur). She is the only convincing actor in the show and she is gorgeous (love that long, dark, curly hair).

I think the problem with this show, like many others, is that they try to tell the story over too long a period. The story arc gets filled with too much ... well... "filler" inbetween the relevant, important scenes.

Rock-n-roll radio guy ... who cares.
Security lady's daughter ... who cares ... boo hoo you left me!
Security lady ... who cares ... she has played no significant role yet.
Artificial Humans ... who cares ... that story has been told so many times in better ways.
Mysterious aliens on planet ... see Artificial Humans.

I think the story should be about the horrible things the humans had to do (and must continue to do) to survive the apocalypse on Earth.

Take the movie Sunshine for example (dir. Danny Boyle, 2007). To save the Earth (and the Billions of people on her) the astronauts had to do terrible things to accomplish their mission (and were justified in doing so because in that instance, the end did justify the means).

Outcasts is just too wishy washy. A little of this, a little of that. Rudderless.

You mean because it's dull, and incredibly slow with that dull?

The one thing they never seem to understand is that an alien planet is not to be treated like a vacation to the country. It's got to be ALIEN, give us a sense of it's other worldliness and mystery.

The old series of Dr Who knew how to do this quite well.

The final episode was only a cliffhanger as they wanted to have a hook for the next series, which will never materialise!

I agree this was a very good show. A pity it wasn't renewed.
