Is Hardcore Mode really worth trying to beat?

I'm pondering on whether I should actually attempt to beat it. The first time I tried I already died on Chapter 1 and then realized that I have to watch the opening cutscene again. 3 saves, no checkpoints, and harder enemies. My God that's going to be frustrating. I don't know if I would have the time and patience to do this.
But at the same time I really want to try the Handcannon. That looks really fun.

If you have the PC version then you can download a hardcore save file. I think the handcannon is lame.

Absolutely worth the time. the difficulty is the same as zealot, just 3 saves and no checkpoints. A hint? Don't die.

Limited saves like that make everything a chore. Videogames are tons of fun and I'm not one to easily suggest to do something "proper" with your time, but before you go through the nightmare of completing this mode with only three saves why not challenge yourself by learning an instrument or be good at a certain sport? That's a lot of sweat and tears for a gimmicky gun that is fun for an hour or so.

My thoughts are "i have a life, i will not try to be the best i can be at a video game that means not a lot after completion".

Is it worth beating it? No.

Is it worth a try? Yes if you love the game and want to keep exploring it's options.

I have attempted it, made it to big room in the cathedral where the necros are coming out of the windows and stuff. One of those necros with the exploding arm snuck up on me and even though I thought I had ran a good distance from him, he still knocked me out with the explosion. Another necro ran over and finished me off at red.

I thought it was total bullsh*t and since my save was quite far back, I just said F it and gave up.

I know this is an old post, but its worth a shot. It took me forever to beat Hard Core mode but it felt rewarding when I got through it. I kept dying in chapter 2 and since theres only 3 saves, I had to start all over again. I saved on chapters 6, 10 and 14. How I made it and completed the game was just pure luck most of the time. There were times were I didnt even think Id survive a fight but end up still being alive. I scavenge the sh!t out of the environment, and it helped me big time. Hope you were able to make it through Hard Core!

It's totally worth it. You might have to do the power node cloning trick to help you get through though.

My saves were chapter 2 before the first pack swarm, chapter 7, and chapter 12 before the dill ride. The trick is simply knowing what's coming and planning your battles accordingly

Anyway, I don't think it's by coincidence that this trophy/achievement is named "Hard to the Core" because only the hardest core of gamer will try to beat this mode and keep playing even after they suffer a cheap death. As most tips say, this mode is not for the faint of heart.

The contact beams Alt fire makes life a bit easier and the Pulse Rifle makes things much easier on those decompression doors.

I say if you're a hard core gamer, go for it. There are plenty of tips that can help you out on YouTube if you need them beforehand. However, if you're the type that whines the moment anything of challenge happens in a video game, it's probably not for you.

You need great patience as you're going to have to go a long stretch w/o dying, but once you reach and pass the Drill ride, you're home free.

If you can somehow get your first save around chapter 6 or 7 or so (I rec 7 as there are loads of cheap deaths scattered throughout 7 and 8), then do it. Otherwise, just save early like I did.

The Handcannon is fine, but I did for the plat trophy, not that. With that said it turns the Zealot mode on it's head, so do Hard Core first if you haven't. That makes it more than worth it imo.
