scariest/hardest/most annoying

out of the 2 games, name the scariest/hardest/most annoying chapter out of either game and reasons why

reply

in the first game, without a doubt, the cafeteria/sleeping quarters in that ship there that crashes. you know what im talking about, cant remember the name right now the helion? no thats not it.

reply

The USM Valor crashes into the Ishumira :)

I think that part is the hardest of the whole game, the quarantine section before you meet the Enhanced Brute that kills Hammond.

I think the Stalkers in 2 might provide the scariest moments for me. The most annoying would have to be any part involving either the Hunter or the Ubermorph, the invincible necromorphs. Especially at the end of DS2 when you're running through a lot of other unpleasant necromorphs at the same time.

For me the scariest part in Dead Space 2 was definitely the return to the Ishimura. It was very haunting and they played the "resurfacing trauma" card really well.

The most annoying and also hardest part was the finale with that stupid regenerating necromorph. Also the showdown was really anticlimactic in comparison to the excellent final fight with the hive mind in Dead Space. It felt like a cheap afterthought, as if they realized too late that they had to wrap up the game somehow.

Another mildly annoying element: the Unitology segment was way too long. I wanna walk around on a space station and not in a big, friggin' church for an hour. The worst part of that segment were the five almost identical cryostasis rooms in a row. That was just boring and somewhat lazy game stretching.

Despite these minor gripes Dead Space 2 is an absolutely excellent game, though!

The predecessor Dead Space didn't really have any annoying parts for me. It had the regenerating necromorph as well, but with much better dosage. And about the scariest part of Dead Space? Hm... the scariness was on a very high level throughout but the few vacuum areas were especially good, because the sound is so muted that necromorphs could get the jump on me, when I didn't hear them.

One moment I recall from DS1 was when you go fight the Leviathan. I was thinking: okay, it's something big, might be stationary, might be able to move, how bad could it be?

I walk into the room and forward, the lights come on and I stop dead. I'm supposed to fight THAT???

An annoying part of the game was in the medical deck, there was one room with a quarantine alarm and I think the uber-morph, I HATED that room. It was a single level room, as I recall.

i think the Ubermorph sections in DS2 were far more annoying then the hunter in DS1. in 2, ya had to deal with elite slashers, elite leapers ( a lot harder in this game then the last ) and elite pukers ( who, when trying to fight off others,he keeps shooting you!!!!)

the lounge section on the Valor, on your first playthrough, was a nightmare.....

but ya ever notice that on your 2nd or more playthrough when yo encounter these moments again,ya kinda feel sorry for the necros'.................. Cuz ya have better guns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scariest are the Claw-Kids in DS2, hardest was running from the Necros at verys tart of part 2, and most annoying was not being able to save Hammond from the Gorilla-Beast when the glass was between us in part 1...

JASON BEAT FREDDY, WHILE MILLA(RE MOVIES) AND KATE(UNDERWORLD) SO ROCK!...

Most annoying was by no doubt the Ubermorph, the only time I actually ran for it in stead of jsu killing everything systematically. I do not know how I will ever get past that point on Hardcore.

Scariest was probably the frozen rooms and the stage in the kindergarten.
The frozen rooms wasn't tedious, they were identical so that you would feel lost and increasingly scared that something horrible would finally appear, the exact thing that happened to me.

Hardest was the Ubermorph chase and on board the giant drill, the latter was only because I got into it with no health nor healthpacks and barely any ammmo.

In Dead Space the scariest part was most defintly the Crypts. Even on my 3rd and 4th playthroughs I'm still really nervous about going around the corner.

The hardest part is parts with the ubermorph of course. Stupid regenerating thing.

Most annoying is the cut scenes where they have you pushing the action button repeatly cuz i die on them almost every freakin time. So annoying!!...

reply

At least DS cut scenes weren't like the ones on Resident Evil 4, where they would change the command every time you die. Now THAT was infuriating!

I haven't played DS1 in a while but as far as DS2 goes... The scariest thing for me would be the revisit to the Ishimura for sure. The first time I played it I was like, "oh no! no, no, no, no, no!" I paused the game several times for several minutes throughout the entire time spent on the Ishimura. The most annoying part for me is moving through the processing plant in chapter 8.

reply

scariest: When the doctor with the scalpel grabs Clarke in the beginning. I saw him standing there cutting at the glass, and I knew something was going to happen, but it still got me.

hardest: Revisiting the Ishimura. You're constantly being attacked from left and right, and for the most part I would mostly just precision shoot and chop things, so naturally all my power nodes are dedicated to the plasma cutter throwback, the ripper and hit points on my RIG, while my stasis is pretty lacking. Everything would be great beside that.

most annoying: That's a tie between fighting stalkers, and the fact that when something really cool and cinematic happens in gameplay, I die and have to do it over again. If I just did that ejector seat sequence in one take, I would have felt a good momentum, but alas, I had to do it a few times.

Scariest - Going back to the Ishimura. It was scarier this time around, you know what happened and you can´t forget. Especially with Nicole´s voice over talking about how she died and how she felt.

Hardest - Processing plant.

Most annoying - The Ubermorph was the most annoying, it wasn´t as scary as the Hunter.

reply

Might sound weird, but scariest for me out of both games was in DS2, when you first wake up and you're walking round the hospital with no gun, just a torch and don't know what to expect.

With the background noises, that was the most tense I've been playong a game since FEAR.

Well for pure fear the very first necro attack in Dead Space 1 in the arrival lounge. I had no idea what to expect and was pretty lame at any horror game so that *beep* me right up.
Hardest the mind battle at the end of Dead Space 2.
Annoying was probably the mind battle as well thinking about it...

God put our mouths on our head for a reason. No!
