DC Showcase shorts--round 2

Speculation at the Toon Zone message boards has the second round of DC Showcase animated shorts shaping up this way (based on a 2009 on-line survey):

All-Star Superman + Lobo
Green Lantern: Emerald Knights + Blue Beetle/Booster Gold
Batman: Year One + Catwoman
Batman: Gotham By Gaslight (22-minute short) + Extended versions of Lobo, Blue Beetle/Booster Gold and Catwoman

No word on who might be directing this group of shorts, still not verified as having been green-lighted. Opinions? Preferences? I'd probably pair the Lobo short with the Green Lantern feature and the Blue & Gold one with A-S Superman.

The selections are based on a 2009 online survey to determine possible DC animated movies and shorts, as referenced in this message at the Toon Zone Forums: http://www.toonzone.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3576140&postcount=1. Here is a list of the possible short features:

CATWOMAN When Catwoman comes to the rescue of a cat being shot at by thugs, a ribbon tied to the cat's collar becomes a clue that leads her into Gotham's salacious underworld. There Catwoman uncovers an international slavery ring, which she has to bring down to save its victims, including the cat's owner. Written by famed Batman scribe Paul Dini. Rated PG-13.

LOBO Lobo, the grungiest, most self-centered interstellar mercenary this side of the Milky Way, has his hands full when he reluctantly accepts the assignment of delivering a baby to the royal family of a distant planet. He can't understand why forces are trying to stop him, until he completes his delivery and discovers that the baby is really an intergalactic assassin intent of destroying the royal king. Rated PG-13.

GOTHAM BY GASLIGHT What if Bruce Wayne had been born in Victorian Times? That's the question posed by "Gotham by Gaslight," which features a turn-of-the-century Batman trying to track down a Jack the Ripper killer on the foggy, cobblestone streets of Gotham City. Based on the acclaimed graphic novel. Rated PG-13.

BOOSTER GOLD/BLUE BEETLE In a parody of a buddy cop movie, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are on surveillance duty, watching the apartment building of a diabolical scientist. When they inadvertently make their presence known, the scientist activates the weapon he's been hiding, a giant doomsday robot, which is set to go off like a ticking bomb unless our heroes can figure out a way to stop it. Rated PG-13.

Gotham by Gaslight sounds like fun. Lobo sounds nothing of what I would expect from a Lobo story. The other two I don't really care for. Make an Aquaman short or a Flash one instead.

It appears that there will only be one more DC Showcase produced. DC Showcase: Catwoman will accompany Batman: Year One in September 2011:

"We probably won't be doing anymore of the DC Showcase type shorts. The early indication that the [Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam] compilation that we did didn't sell really well enough to just cycle anymore of them.

"There is going to be one more short featurette, the Catwoman short, that's going to be on the Batman: Year One film, but then beyond that I really don't know."
