Completely Its Own Thing

Heartily recommended for anyone with an appreciation of the absurd. It's clever, but not self-conscious about it, and perfectly, neatly wrapped up in two seasons. Acting is top-notch, it's supremely quotable, and it's got some real depth as well as being very funny.

It's a bit romantic, not sugary about it but that's a big element, so if you're not comfortable with the warm and fuzzy maybe it won't be for you. At the same time, it's extremely irreverent and quite flip about some truly serious subjects, so that might balance it for you if you're on the fence about the romance aspect.

At its core is a nicely complex, sisterly friendship, and that's beautifully explored both comedically and seriously.

Give it a shot, you won't be sorry. Worthwhile for the dialogue alone!

"She wasn't emo! She just liked cutting herself!"

Agreed!

I thought during the second season it finally hit it's stride. Before that, I struggled with it.
