Watch Force Majeur instead

Force Majeur (also called Turist in some countries) is a MUCH better movie that explores the same themes.

The Loneliest Planet is so boring, don't subject yourself to it unless you just want to see the scenery.

Both movies are about men who, when placed in danger, behave cowardly for a split second, before coming to their senses.

And how that split second impacts their lives.

Force majeure does it in such an impactful, thought-provoking, and even humorous way. While the loneliest planet does it in the most boring way.

Saw both. Much preferred 'The Loneliest Planet'.
I agree it's very slow paced and contemplative, but not as "over-written" as 'Force Majeure', and much more complex and focused on what it wants to be about.
Found it to be quite haunting as well, just like Julia Loktev's previous film 'Day Night Day Night'.
I understand they're not for everyone, and how one might find them boring: they do require a minimum of "work" from their audience but are quite rewarding.
