At what point does the action take place?

I'm pretty patient with films but I only stayed around for 40 minutes with this one. Pretty scenery, pretty people but I got tired of seeing the couple frolicking in the mountians for so long.

Did you see the part where they run into the two boys and the man with the gun?

reply

No, I never got to that part...

reply

Well then you missed the most important part of the film.

reply

I realize that, I just got bored prior to that part.

reply

Never.

Take me seriously.

Mister Nick - OMG, really.

Can you explain that to me on a fifth grade level, so everybody else will get it?.

reply

This is all building up to a pretty devastating moment in the film, but the sloooow pace and minimal dialogue isn't going to keep viewers glued to the screen. It's quite possible to be distracted for 5 seconds and miss the most important part of the film. If you do, you will definitely be scratching your head and wondering why you wasted two hours for nothing.

The payoff was weak in my opinion. Bad movie.

reply

There isn't a payoff in this film. It builds to a devastating moment, and then ends with the main characters' relationship still unresolved.

reply

I don't mean a big budget action payoff. In this movie, the "devastating moment" was the intended payoff. The pivot. Unfortunately, The gun scene was not the payoff it intended to be, in my opinion. This movie would have been better as a 35 minute short film. The entire time it felt flavorless. Nobody has to agree with me but it wasn't for me. Other movies have meandered successfully while this one list loses itself.

I disagree about their relationship. If the trek out hadn't taken very long then the relationship might really have had little chance because they both initially looked as if it were over. Over time and thought they seemed to be putting it all into perspective. Then as they were breaking camp the couple folds the tent cover together and then as she passes behind him, she strokes his back. That to me signals that she still loves him and wants to stay together. He immediately responds by catching and holding her hand for a moment which signals that this is what he wants as well. It was subtle but seem clear to me that they were probably going to be OK. Of course she still needs to tell him what happened in her drunk moment but I think they have a good chance together.

'By the way, honey, while you were sleeping, me and the butt ugly guide french kissed for a while, so, who did you say was going to be your best man, again?'

'I was thinking of my best friend Antonio, but now I think im gonna go with Paco my oligofrenic, hunchback pool cleaner."
