This series looks very exciting! All I know is it's been commissioned by the BBC for a 12-episode run sometime next year. By the sounds of it filming is currently ongoing. As it's got a big budget, I'd be surprised if it's only the BBC commissioning it, as BBC drama's generally don't get large budgets as the BBC normally sticks to shorter runs (i.e. 6 episodes). As it's 12-episodes I'm thinking it could be a joint production between the BBC and HBO, as HBO have recently produced a number of 12-part dramas, and they could stump up the extra cash. But, as of now, that's all speculation. It could be just a BBC thing, which would make sense as it is going to be shown on the anniversary of the sinking, plus it's about a british liner; but it could be a joint production with any number of channels from different countries. Another contender could be ARD of germany, as the BBC recently did a WW2 ship drama with them, 'The Sinking of the Laconia', which ironically HBO have just bought the rights to.

Here's some info about the BBC involvement in this:

Just found this looking up Jacobi to see The Old Curiosity Shop.

I'm hoping there is more interest in this after PBS got its highest ratings in years after the second installment of Downton Abbey.

It's filming in Dublin at the moment...around the back of the Guinness factory. Liam Cunningham was there.

I hope HBO or someone does pick it up, but ever since the BBC changed their mind about airing the program, there hasn't been any news on any other network showing interest in T:B&S. :(
