What kind of whale is that?

What a stinker this movie is! What kind of whale was that supposed to be? It had a long, pointy nose like a shark! And poor, Barry Bostwick, he must've been desperate for the money.
As for the technology, their sonar detects the whale and captain orders Flank Speed. The mate states that it will take 4 days to reach the whale at that speed. WOW, what good sonar! I would estimate 4 days at Flank about 1500 mi. at least!
What a waste of of time and effort.

What kind of whale is it? No Kind x

I think it was based on a Zeuglodon, a long extinct primitive whale. The whole whale design is as much total crap as the movie.

One of a kind. Cheap CGI made this movie quite hilarious actually. I was laughing my @ss off after the climax!

It's a Zeuglodon but I'm guessing it has evolved (more like devolved) for millions of years.
