Where does the food go?

On these types of shows, when it comes time to judge, and the dishes are presented, the judges take a bite or two before moving on to the next. I want to know what happens to the rest of the food. US Americans are wasteful lot, but it would be a terrible shame to see a gourmet meal like that go to waste just because the have to judge in a timely manner. So do they throw it out? Feed the crew members? Donate it? Freeze/refrigerate it? Judges finish it off camera? Do the chefs eat what they fix?
