Never seen a movie with so many cliches

I've never seen a war movie with so many cliches as this one. Let me list some of them:
(1) "talk to you 'man to man'"
(2) "What is a memorial day with nothing to remember?"
(3) "Is that a Lugar?"
(4) "the biggest airborne operation in history"
(5) "everybody thought so except Montgomery"
(6) "Let's have more lemonade"
etc.

Plus many of the battle scenes were imitated from other movies or even from computer games. The battle scene of Bastogne was directly copied from the Call of Duty. This movie looks like it was made to make veterans feel good on the Memorial Day.

Allow me to second your advice to the child with this:

As another young hippie turned conservative, P.J. O'Rourke, once said,
'Pull your pants up, turn your hat around, and get a job.'

Why are you insulting yourself? Obviously you're the one who lives in your grandma's basement playing Xbox all day jerking off to cable TV because you couldn't get laid even if you paid for it.

My feet smells like *beep* Its because I stepped on dog poop.

Err some one needs to read the definition of Cliché.

!. yea it could be considered
2. is a point of fact not and overly used statment
3. reasonable question for someone that doesn't know guns (a 13 yo)
4. point of fact (almost 42k airborne troops)
5. a point of fact by many American vets a cliché to anyone else...
6. ok sure not like i hear that one alot

if there was a "I got a bad feeling about this" or some of the other super common clichés you might have had a point.

As for your it's a rip off from COD where do you think COD got it it's not like they came up with it on their own.

for your "This movie looks like it was made to make veterans feel good on the Memorial Day." i would disagree it is more about making the non-military people try to understand the sacrifice that people have made for them and how that day take on a totally different meaning for Vets.

You don't seem to get that Memorial Day isn't about the Vets it's about those that gave their lives for all of us and this country.

I don't think it was the cliches as much as it was the characterization of the grandpa - he went from terrifying, don't dare make him mad to I'll tell you my entire life story piece by piece in barely a scene. No conflict, poorly written character. I appreciate the sentiment and I think more movies should be made to teach the younger generation the meaning of courage, sacrifice, honour and patriotism but is it too much to ask that they be written well?

In movies like this you do expect a certain amount of cliche. The question is, does the cliche work. I fear that with this one, it felt more like someone who had been playing videogames about the war, did a day's research and decided they could make the next Saving Private Ryan.

And come on, riding trucks and half-tracks to the Grave Bridge? Try jeeps next time.

I haven't seen this, but I don't think your assessment will affect my enjoying this movie one iota.

War is a cliche you bonehead. They're all the same, men killing each other. That's the reality, not an MMOG. Crawl out of your Parent's basement and find your life.
