Costco pitch

Film showed it in Texas but the headquarters are in Issaquah, WA. Not sure about the HSN pitch location either.

Costco has eight regional buying offices, one of which is in Texas.

Bam said the lady.

I grew up in Issaquah. You are absolutely right about the headquarters being there.

Ya, that is why it is called a movie, which has stuff we call fiction.
It is a scary thought, I know...

When I used to work with HSN, they were in FL. I also used to work with ShopNBC and Shop At Home. The studio they show in the movie is ridiculously sparse. They use motion control cameras that are huge and there are way more crew on set. The lighting is much brighter in real life. You start sweating almost instantly when you're on set. The host and guest receive instructions in their ear pieces so they know what to talk about. There are no cue cards.

However, being thrown to the wolves on air is completely standard. Guests receive very little coaching and are expected to just go with it. It usually works out just fine. Most guests are passionate about their offering and can talk it up without issue. The hosts are usually really good at keeping the banter going while the guest finds their feet. When they cut to b-roll, producers will give advise on how to act, and the booth will talk to the presenters in their ear.

There is also always a tv next to the camera that displays GTM (Gross Tele-marketed) so that the hosts know if what they're talking about is working or tanking.
