Kind of corny... (spoilers)

The movie started out very promising, with the character of James Furlong's powers reminding me of the kid from Looper, but then somewhere down the line the love story got in the way, and it became really dull. By the time the two characters consummate their love on the hospital bed (which ends up curing everyone in the hospital...aww, how sweet), I tuned out completely. I also thought the tragic ending was unnecessary (couldn't the girl's love "save" him?), but I suppose it's a staple of these kinds of fantasies. In retrospect, the movie is probably better than I give it credit for. It's the story of young, romantic teen love, and I think it's better made and more touching than the entire Twilight saga.

I felt very much the same as you said, other than liking it over the original twilight movie which is amazing imo. In fact one of the things i liked so much about it was how bella and edward stayed together at the end. i expected bella and edward to be apart when i first watched twilight, as it is usually the case in these dark romantic tales in cinema nowadays sadly. twilight is now starting to make a difference in movies like red riding hood, but for some reason hideaways stayed behind on that topic.

I don't think it's possible any story can be behind Twilight in any way. You must be quite young to think so.

Edward is a stalker and Bella has no personality at all. There's no reason for them to love each other, they just do because Stephenie Meyer wrote it that way. Period. There's nothing in either one of them that's redeeming. They're also incredibly selfish, those two. They give nothing to anyone else, think nothing of anyone else, either.

And anyway, Smeyer made Edward leave Bella again arbitrarily in the second book just because she needed to get that love triangle (which never was anyway because Bella never sways from Edward she just plays with Jacob's emotions the whole time).

Hideaways was sweet and at least the characters had more reason to be together in 2 or 3 days than Bella and Edward could in years or millenia.

saying that only young people could love twilight is arrogant and ignorant.
i'm 25 and behind me are several years of cinema study and work, and i love twilight. at least the first movie out of the franchise. don't even like the book much.

as for your points - people do not need a reason to fall in love, it's something that happens. they fell in love the minute they saw each other and i found it extremely believable and relatable.

as for edward leaving bella "arbitrary" just to make a love triangle:
firstly i didn't find it arbitrary. he was afraid of the danger he is to her and couldn't stay near her. but other than that, i thought that the concept of new moon was much more a story about a couple's breaking up, and it had an enormous potential at that. the final result was garbage btw. i guess the producers should've kept catherine hardwike in the production. but a great idea nontheless.

I also thought this film was quite nice. It's flawed, that's for sure, but it was good!
