Totally pointless

In German the movie is called "Hideaways- Die Macht der Liebe" which translates into "The Power of Love". But really, it had nothing to do with love. The whole romance was a wannabe nice plot that had nothing to do with the curse itself.

In the end... SPOILERS

The actual solution to the "curse" was just to kill James off. A lot of lives could have been saved. It had nothing to do with love.The whole romance was totally unnecessary. Sure, they had to make Mae have a kid just to show that the curse "can produce life" but it was all superfluous for she could have just had a kid with someone else who didn't previously kill a bunch of people.
