Seriously flawed story

In too many ways, but for starters

- How are we to believe he is somehow faster than the other competitors? No explanation is given for this fact. After all why should he, the others for the most part are racing planes and/or have vastly more power. It'd be different if they built on the fact that after years of doing tight turns and low level flying that he he was brilliant at this, but then our friend the Skipper leads us to believe he isn't.

- What is the point to the reveal that the Skipper only ever flew one mission? For that matter how does it make sense, since when would a plane with only one mission have trained his whole Wing and be Wing Leader? Wouldn't it also undermine the idea that he had a lifetime of experience to share with Dusty in the first place, and so how could he have helped him fly better? From the sounds of it, Dusty has more flying experience!

- How does this crazy race work? Dusty seems to lose or be so far back on numerous occasions yet in the final leg if he crosses the finish line first he wins the whole thing. Uh, maybe he starts with a time penalty but so he's soooo fast that he catches up all the lost time? But didn't we just see that if Ripslinger wants to, he can just pull away from Dusty in level flight....

- Lose your radio and you can't navigate?? Since when do light aircraft navigate by radio? That's why they have compasses, or in modern planes a GPS. Okay, whatever, not that big a deal, just a bit lame.

- Since when would a crop dusting farm boy being giving tips on how to pick up women to a latino loverboy? This is the MOST UNREALISTIC THING IN THE WHOLE MOVIE PPL!!!!!!!
