Fork Lifts as supporting characters?
I guess since they are smallish vehicles and you can put them anywhere. They were everywhere: race announcers, sidekicks etc.
Do kids want to play with forklifts?
I thought there were too many as well but I assumed it was because of the fact forklifts are probably the simplest vehicle with 'arms' to animate for doing things in the film. SOMEone has to pick things up, move things, etc., even in a fantasy world such as this. Forklifts are the closest thing that makes sense.
